Elsevier’s publicly accessible database of top-cited scientists offers standardized citation data, reflecting various authorship positions and a composite indicator known as the c-score. Researchers are categorised into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, using the Science-Metrix classification system. Only those who have authored at least five papers are considered, and specific percentiles are provided for ranking.
The selection criteria for this prestigious database include the top 100,000 scientists ranked by c-score (both with and without self-citations) or those falling within the top 2pc of their sub-field. The data is sourced from Scopus and was last updated on 1st August 2024.
