Karachi: Pakistan Dental Community (PDC) successfully organized their second educational seminar on “UK: Examination and Post-graduation” as a continuum of their “Ace the Exam” Series, conducted by Dr. Saifullah Khan- BDS, MFD RCS (Ireland), MSc Special Care Dentistry (UK) on 25th May at NORE 1, Karachi.
The seminar had two objectives; one was to guide the students and doctors, who want to practice dentistry in the UK, regarding the ORE exam, which the overseas dentists have to pass, in order to register with GDC. Dr. Saif informed the students regarding the application procedure, registration requirements and discussed in detail on how the ORE exam is conducted. He further gave tips to the participants on how to get settled within the UK system after clearing the ORE exam.
The other objective was to enlighten the participants of the seminar regarding the post-graduate opportunities, which are beneficial to acquire specialized sets of skills and for broader understanding of the existing clinical knowledge. Exams like MFDS/MFD/MJDF were discussed in detail, along with Master programs offered in the UK. Dr. Saif interacted with the students throughout the session and answered their queries.
“The idea of PDC to give first-hand information about foreign qualifications and exam is a great step in helping the students and doctors. As proper counseling services are not available in our colleges, someone who has gone through these steps can guide best. This process should be started during undergraduate studies, so that students have a clear aim in front of them!” remarked Dr. Saif.
Pak Dental Community’s Ace the Examination series is based on the thought that; Students need to be properly guided and at the most appropriate time on; How to prepare for wide variety of both, Pakistani and Foreign examinations? so that they may develop their careers on a more well defined path.
