DN Report: Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi – Principal of Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) personally conducted an insightful course on “Principles of Basic Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery (OMFS), recently. This was the 2nd Course covering the A to Z of Soft Tissue Handling along with Assesment and selection of Implant Patients. The course was held at LCMD in Karachi and was also facilitated by Dr. Tahera Ayub of LCMD and other faculty members.
This course comprised of a thoroughly researched lecture coupled with a One-day Hands-on workshop where the dentists could learn about various aspects of OMFS including;

Incisions, flap design and bone drilling.

Different techniques of flap repositioning and suturing.

Frenectomy
-
Procedure of biopsy-taking and marking of sample margins.

Assessment and selection of Implant patients.
Speaking to Dental News on the occasion, the Prinicpal of LCMD – Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi highlighted the popularity of this course, saying; In the lecture we have given an outline and overview of the procedures. The hands-on workshop will be conducted on real goat heads, to let every participant get the natural feel and physical experience of Oral surgeries and bone cutting procedure. LCMD had offered this course last year as well and it turned out to be a very successful event.
This year LCMD had made arrangements to enroll 35 dentists in this course however, we got a much greater response, as more than 75 dentists have already registered for the course. Therefore, LCMD will be conducting another repeat session of the same course to accommodate the additional participants. The participants have come in from all over Sindh including ISRA University and Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences in Hyderabad.
