LAHORE: In a significant development, the Punjab government has made the decision to lift the ban on the use of Avastin injection. This decision comes after a period of careful scrutiny and evaluation, as the injection had been previously banned in Punjab due to concerns surrounding blurry vision.
Promptly following the ban, the Punjab Health Department took swift action by sending six samples of the Avastin injection to the Drug Testing Lab in Lahore and two samples to the Drug Testing Lab in Karachi. These measures were taken in response to reports of blurry vision cases.
After rigorous testing and analysis conducted at both the Lahore and Karachi labs, it has been conclusively determined that the Avastin injection is indeed safe for use. This announcement comes as a relief to many individuals who rely on this medication for various medical conditions.
According to sources, the Punjab caretaker government, in a high-level meeting of the Punjab Quality Control Board, has decided to suspend the recall notices for Avastin injection and has approved the release of four batches into the market. Notably, three batches of Avastin 100 mg and one batch of 400 mg have been cleared for safe use. Furthermore, the Drug Testing Lab in Lahore has also given its seal of approval to four batches of the Avastin injection.
To ensure the safe administration of the Avastin injection, the Punjab Drug Control Directorate has issued advisories to distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and medical professionals. These guidelines emphasize the importance of following established protocols when handling and administering the injection to patients.
This positive development brings hope to individuals in need of Avastin treatment and underscores the government's commitment to safeguarding public health. The decision to lift the ban on Avastin injection represents a significant step towards ensuring the availability of this vital medication for those who rely on it.
