President Alvi to take in technology, facilitate youngsters 

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi recently spoke about the future of technology and youngsters in Pakistan at the launch of think tank and advisory firm Tabadlab's working paper `Energising the Tech Investment Ecosystem in Pakistan'.

Dr Alvi said that Pakistan might have lost time to adapt, but it wasn't too late to jump on to the technology bandwagon. He asked that why we needed COVID-19 to accommodate tools that had been around for years.

He further stressed that we couldn't afford to lose our youth to foreign countries and thus wanted to equip them to work and earn in Pakistan.

Dr Alvi has noted the chronic structural issues were being addressed quickly. He also said that he was engaging with industry and entrepreneurs to solve problems.

Amer Hashmi, Chairperson of Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), also spoke at the event and urged policymakers and industry leaders to read the paper and implement its recommendations. He also talked about the increase in investment in Pakistani tech startups, noting how establishing special technology zones with tax and regulatory incentives will attract and keep venture capitalists in Pakistan.
