KARACHI: Dr Khalid Shaikh, Chairperson of the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) Board, has announced plans to implement a comprehensive digitalization system for healthcare establishments in the province.

This announcement was made during the 60th meeting of the Board held in Karachi, where all Board members recognized the urgent need to adapt to contemporary demands, and unanimously agreed on the necessity of integrating cutting-edge technology to improve the SHCC’s performance.

The meeting was also attended by other Board members, including Dr Abdul Ghafoor Shoro, Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Prof Shoaib Gangat, Dr Sajjad Siddiqui, and Dr Ghulam Rasool Shah.

Dr Ghafoor Shoro, convener of the Anti-Quackery Committee (AQC), provided an update to the meeting, highlighting that the Anti-Quackery Directorate had received de-sealing applications from healthcare providers and property owners. The AQ committee reviewed these applications, ensuring they adhered to the prescribed formalities. Decisions were made based on individual circumstances, resulting in penalties totaling Rs4.2 million for all 64 healthcare establishments.

Dr Ghulam Rasool Shah, convener of the Accounts and Finance Committee, presented the budget estimates for FY 2023-24, which received unanimous Board approval.

The Board has resolved to commence renovation work on a state-of-the-art conference and training room, complete with advanced audio and video systems. Additionally, plans are underway to initiate in-house training programs aimed at optimizing cost-effectiveness.

These strategic initiatives underscore SHCC's commitment to modernising and improving healthcare standards in Sindh for the benefit of the community.
