At Hamdard University Dental Hospital 68th Independence Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm to work hard for the progress of our country. In this connection various competitions like quiz, debate and national songs were organized. Dr Ayesha Basit was the Chief Organizer while Dr Umair, Dr Saqib, Dr Saba, Dr Maham Mr. Faiz and Mr. Baqar were among the members of Organizing Committee. All departments were assigned a specific color and all clinical departments were asked to nominate their teams in all competitions, while there was a separate team from non teaching staff as well. The program started with recitation from Holy Quran by Mr Kamran uddin from Prosthodontics Department followed by National Anthem. Then Dr Ayesha Basit gave introductory remarks, after that quiz competition was held which was hosted by Dr S Imran Hassan while Dr Kashif Naqvi and Dr Farhat Bukhari were the judges. Quiz competeion was won by Prosthodontics Department Team which includes Dr Asim & Dr Saba.
Then debate competition was held, the topic of this competition was “Brand ka Trend”. Dr Sana Bardai from Endodontics Department got first position. This segment was hosted by Dr Asma while Dr Javaid & Dr Mehmood were the judges. This was followed by National Song competition in which Dr Rabia from Oral Surgery Department secured first position. Dr Tahir and Dr Abrar were the Judges while Dr Shikoh Naz was the compare of this event. Some special prizes were awarded to Dr Aurangzaib, Ms Nazish, Dr Umair and Mr. Abdul Basit for best dressing for male & female along with Regional Dressing & Special Dressing respectively. Then Chief Guest Dean HCM&D Prof Dr Jawaid gave a speech in which he said that such activities are very important to remember the sacrifice given by of our forefathers for the independence of our country. Now this is the responsibility on us to work hard with sincerity and honesty for the progress of our dear homeland. Head of Dental Section Prof Dr Mervyn Hosein made concluding remarks in which he mentioned that now this is the time to make Pakistan as a Brand & this is only possible with hard working and applying professional approach in all the fields of life. In the end prize distribution ceremony was taking place followed by scrumptious lunch.
