After the constitution of the Punjab Council of the “Pakistan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology” (PSOMP), the society has now established its Federal, KPK and Sindh councils successfully. The posts were pre-announced and elections were conducted in relevant regions to select the office bearers for each respective post.
The proper establishment of the Federal body and the Oath-taking ceremony was held recently, during the 2nd Biennial Dental Symposium at PIMS. The results of the Federal body were: Dr. Joharia Azhar Saadat was elected as the President of Federal council, Vice President/ President elect - Dr Hassan Mujtaba volunteered. The elected Vice Presidents were Dr Nadia Zeb and Dr Imran Khan. Dr. Rizwan is now the General Secretary. Dr. Ayesha Awan is the Clinical Secretary and Dr Hamza Ulfat is the Finance Secretary. During the meeting, Dr Amir Mushtaq (AFID), Dr Maryium (MIHS), Dr Rabia (IIDC), Dr Umer (IMDC), Dr Salman (RIHS) and Dr Javeria (Fauji Foundation Dental College) have been elected as the Institutional Representatives.
The establishment of the KPK council was also completed during March at the Sardar Begum Dental College, Peshawar. Results of the KPK council elections are as follow: Dr Sultan Zeb Khan has been elected as the 1st President of KPK PSOMP, Dr Samreena Muhammad as Senior Vice-President, Dr Amna & Dr Munaza Galani as the Vice-Presidents, Dr Khurshid Ali as General Secretary, Dr Muhammad Arshad as clinical secretary and Dr Waqar-un-Nissa won the finance Secretary's post.
Lastly the formulation of the Sindh council of PSOMP was done on the 22nd of March at Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi. Dr Abdul Qadir Khero has been elected as its 1st President, Dr Salik as Senior Vice President, Dr Amtul Qazi as Vice President and Dr Sofia Ali Syed as General Secretary.
These bodies are now working under the Central Council, which comprises of a President - Dr Arshad Malik, Executive Director - Dr Nauman Rauf Khan and the Joint Secretary - Dr Asifa Iqbal. These are the elected members and after creation of a constitution of this society, these office bearers will run PSOMP for one year, after which the next elections will be held.
The next upcoming event of the society will be conducted by the Punjab Council, on 19th April at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore, details of which are available on; www.psomp.org. This will be the FNAC of the oral and maxillofacial pathologies. The Scientific session will be followed by a workshop on FNAC.
