KARACHI: In an effort to promote oral health education and awareness, the Dow Dental College Student Federation (DDCSA), in collaboration with the Community Dentistry Department at Dow Dental College (DDC), organized an impactful dental awareness and free check-up event at the Developments in Literacy (DIL) School, Orangi Campus, recently.
For over 27 years, Developments in Literacy (DIL) has been a beacon of hope for underserved communities in Pakistan, providing access to affordable, high-quality education. With a network of 191 schools serving over 61,000 students, DIL prepares young minds for promising careers in fields such as medicine, engineering, and public service.
The dental health event marked a significant milestone in fostering oral hygiene among schoolchildren. DDCSA members, under the guidance of DDC’s Community Dentistry Department, designed a comprehensive program that included educational workshops, interactive sessions, and free dental screenings. The initiative aimed to instill lifelong oral hygiene habits, demonstrating proper brushing and flossing techniques, while also addressing existing dental health concerns.
Highlights of the event
Student Engagement: Over 200 students participated in dynamic presentations and hands-on activities that made learning about dental care fun and engaging.
Free Dental Check-Ups: Students received expert evaluations of their oral health, along with personalized guidance for maintaining good hygiene practices.
Community Impact: The program created a ripple effect of awareness, benefiting not just the students but also their families.
The collaboration was met with an enthusiastic response from both students and faculty. Nabeela Hassan, Principal of DIL School, expressed gratitude for the initiative, stating:
