ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) has officially established its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chapter, appointing a new leadership team to advance dental health initiatives in the region. The newly appointed office bearers are:
- President: Prof. Dr. Muslim Khan
- Senior Vice President: Prof. Dr. Tariq Ali Khan
- General Secretary: Dr. Faheem Ud Din
- Joint Secretary: Dr. Sajjad Ahmad
- Finance Secretary: Dr. Atta Ur Rehman
- Information Secretary: Dr. Samrina Muhammad
This development follows the PDA's recent reorganization and renewed commitment to enhancing dental care across Pakistan. In late 2024, the association underwent significant restructuring, including obtaining new registration under the Islamabad Capital Territory Charities Registration, Regulation, and Facilitation Act, 2021. This move was aimed at resolving longstanding internal disputes and revoking the previous registration under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, which had been dormant for over five decades due to non-compliance with statutory obligations.
Under the leadership of President Dr. Khurshid Ahmad, the PDA has been proactive in revitalizing its role within the dental community. The establishment of the KP Chapter is a testament to the association's dedication to expanding its reach and impact.
The PDA's renewed vigor is evident in its recent activities, including advocating for modernization in dental education and addressing critical issues such as the proposed extension of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program from four to five years. The association has organized symposiums to deliberate on these changes, reflecting its commitment to advancing dental education and practice in Pakistan.
With the new KP Chapter leadership in place, the PDA aims to strengthen its initiatives in the province, focusing on improving dental health services, education, and professional development for dental practitioners.
