PMDC to take action against faculty working in unrecognized colleges

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to take action against faculty working in the unrecognized medical and dental colleges. 

The council in its 139th meeting, decided that the faculty, which were currently teaching in the medical and dental colleges, which have been recommended for closure or are functioning without recognition, would be suspended from faculty registration, and they would not be given any teaching experience of this relevant period.

Colleges, which have been recommended closure by the PMDC, include; Al-Razi Medical College, Peshawar, Hashmat Medical College, Gujrat, Pak Red Crescent Medical College, Lahore and Sahiwal Medical College, Sahiwal, besides D.G Khan Medical College, D.G Khan (unrecognized and recommended for closure) and Dental Section, Bacha Khan Medical College, Mardan (un-recognized).

It was also decided that the matter of adjustment of the students studying in these colleges would be undertaken soon, to adjust them into recognized medical and dental colleges, of which Hashmat Medical Colleges was an example, whose students have been transferred to other colleges on court order.
