LAHORE: The Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry at Lahore Medical and Dental College (LMDC) conducted Oral Health Education and Awareness program in school for 2nd year BDS students.

This workshop aimed to enable students to achieve ‘Seven-star dentist’ qualities (required by PMC), including empathy, leadership, teamwork, professionalism, self-esteem, patience, confidence, ethics and continuous learning.

The dental students were taught to highlight the major oral health problems of children, emphasising tooth decay and gum diseases. They also used KAB models to know attitudes and behaviour and evaluate behavioural responses.

The activity included educating 05 – 10 yr old children about dental ailments along with dental health education and awareness.

The Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry conducted this activity with the cooperation of the Departments of Operative Dentistry, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics and Finance. They acknowledge such cooperation and would appreciate it in future endeavours as well.
