MARYLAND: More than five million people have died of COVID-19 across the globe, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Johns Hopkins University has recently released data in which 5,000,425 COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded across the globe, with the US reporting the highest number of recorded deaths, i.e., 745,836.
The rapid development of COVID vaccines helped immensely in lowering the number of people dying from deadly coronavirus. However, the world has still been battling the highly infectious delta strain of the virus and watching for new mutations.
Moreover, there have been increasing concerns about increasing infections, hospitalizations, and deaths as winter approaches among unvaccinated and elderly. Unvaccinated individuals have been at the most significant risk of severe complications from COVID. Whereas elderly, who were the first to be vaccinated, have also been at risk as vaccine immunity wanes over time.
