Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) administration has appointed another pro-vice chancellor on the same post as Prof Dr Umer Farooq after failure to remove him.
The new PVC at Dow University is Prof Dr Muhammad Masroor and the Governor of Sindh has also issued notification in this regard.
It has reliably been learnt that differences between Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Masood Hameed Khan and Pro-Vice Chancellor Umer Farooq reached a point where the VC sent a summary to chief minister Sindh for removal of pro-vice chancellor from his post but governor Sindh had taken strong notice on differences of these two and also stopped them from giving statements against each other in media.
Later, Pro-Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Dr Umer Farooq also got stay order from court but administration has posted Dr Masroor as pro-vice chancellor of university for four years and notification also issued in this regard.
The senior faculty members of Dow University expressed their concern on appointment of two persons on the same post and opined that the decision may lead the institution towards destruction.
Earlier, Prof Dr Masroor was posted as professor of Dow International Medical College.
Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Masroor Hameed Khan said as per constitution two pro-vice chancellors can be appointed in the same institution provided their responsibilities are different from each other. He confirmed that Prof Umer Farooq still working on pro-vice chancellor post.
