Dental Checkup Session conducted By BUMDC

Karachi- An interactive oral health awareness and free dental checkup visit was arranged by Bahria University Medical and Dental College (BUMDC), Karachi. The event took place at local school, Beacon House School. The campaign was conducted by The BUMDC Health Care Professional (HCP) team. The event was chaired by Dr. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi, Vice-Principal and Head of Community Dentistry Department. The participating team comprised of Dr. Raima Bashir and Dr. Mohsin Haider, Senior Lecturers, Department of Community Dentistry. The dental house officers that volunteered in the campaign were Dr. Mariam Khalid, Dr. Haider Hayat, Dr. Ambreen Azaad, Aqsa Abbasi and Dr. Samar Fayyaz. The aim of the event was to give reliable set of information to people for maintaining dental health.

The session comprised of a PowerPoint presentation of oral diseases. The presentation highlighted its etiological & risk factors with special emphasis on preventive measures. The information was conveyed through videos, presentations and lively interaction. The event was filled with fun and entertainment keeping in view the age of the recipients. Oral hygiene practices such as meticulous tooth brushing techniques were also demonstrated on models.

Dental checkup was provided to all students and the oral health conditions were recorded on validated WHO forms. Students were also given take-home coloring exercises for reinforcement of the brushing habits. They were also given oral hygiene kits at the end of the program as an incentive.

The School Principal and staff members appreciated the Oral Health activity.
