KARACHI: The University of Karachi (KU) witnessed a remarkable turnout of 8,098 candidates in the entrance test for the morning session, covering various programmes, including BS, BEd (H), BE., Doctor of Pharmacy (morning and evening programs), and Doctor of Physical Therapy.
The entry test, held for the academic year 2024, covered departments such as Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Applied Physics, Biotechnology, Business Administration (BBA), B.E. Chemical Engineering, Commerce, Computer Science (BSCS and BSSE), Criminology, Education, Environmental Studies, Food Science and Technology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, International Relations, Mass Communication, Public Administration, Petroleum Technology, Special Education, Sports Business Management, and B.Ed (H) Teacher Education.
Dr. Saima Akhtar, in charge of the Directorate Admissions Committee, said the university received 8,575 online admission forms for the entry test-based degree programmes. Out of these, 8,098 candidates appeared in the test for the 1,517 allocated seats across the departments. The test took place at 22 examination centers across the campus and was conducted for both morning and evening shifts.
The 100-minute-long entry test commenced at 11am and concluded at 12:40pm. The initial list of successful candidates is expected to be uploaded on the admission portal (www.uokadmission.edu.pk) by December 7, 2023. The entry test was administered through the university's own assessment and testing service (KUATS).
The Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Registrar Professor Dr Abdul Waheed, and others, ensured the smooth monitoring of the admission test proceedings.
The university also took measures to facilitate candidates, by arranging a clinic, ambulance, watch and ward staff, and Directorate of Admissions staff, providing guidance to students and their parents in separate waiting areas near the examination classrooms.
