ISLAMABAD: In an important move towards saving lives, the Blood Bank of Pakistan Sweet Home (PSH) has collected over 17,000 units of blood, ultimately impacting the lives of more than 51,000 individuals.
This was stated by Project Director Asad Bin Azam while addressing a recent blood donation camp held at Air University Islamabad (AUI), in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS).
Mr Azam said the PSH has set up blood donation camps throughout colleges, universities, and other institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
At the AUI camp, students and faculty members from various departments, including civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and computer sciences, donated blood, specifically for the children affected by thalassemia.
Zumarrad Khan, the PSH Patron-in-chief, appreciated the students' blood donations, terming it a substantial contribution to saving lives of innocent children by leading engineering and defense universities in Pakistan. He mentioned that many recipients of PSH scholarships also actively participated in the blood donation drive.
He thanked the students and the management of Air University and PIEAS for their support in PSH's noble mission to save innocent lives.
Former director of Pakistan Baitul-Mal, Raja Jahangir Mughal, lauded the PSH Blood Bank team for ensuring the timely provision of blood to deserving patients in various thalassemia centres and hospitals across the city.
Mughal said the initiative was making a significant impact, with thousands of people benefiting from daily blood donations. He shared that the blood bank caters to individuals facing challenges like dengue, thalassemia, hemophilia, blood cancer, and emergency cases.
He urged other colleges and universities to participate in this noble initiative, encouraging them to connect with PSH to organise blood donation camps within their institutions to save more innocent lives.
