UNITED KINGDOM: The green dental hygienist, Laurel Manahan sets a new year resolution to practice green dentistry in the upcoming year.
In order to remind herself, and to encourage others to adopt this new strategy in the effort to reduce the effects of climate, Laurel helps decode some recycling symbols and what they might mean.
Laurel says her favorite quote, that maintains her vigor toward practicing green dentistry is one from Barack Obama, who said
"We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it."
Some of the signs Laurel sheds light on, in her recent article, are as follows:
The Mobius Loop
According to the UK's green hygienist, the three green arrows arranged in the triangular pattern, depict that the item is capable of being recycled.
Widely Recycled
A three-quarter of a circular with a spade on one end marks the product as one that is widely recycled by 75%of UK's local authorities
Tidy Man
This symbol is part of the Keep Britain Tidy initiative.
It doesn’t actually have anything to do with recycling but acts as a reminder to dispose of waste properly.
