Karachi: World Oral Health Day is an international day observed annually around the globe on 20th March to promote worldwide awareness regarding benefits of a healthy mouth and highlighting oral health issues along with the importance of oral hygiene.
This year’s theme “Say Ahh” ‘Think Mouth, Think Health’ introduces the link between oral health as an indicator of general health and well-being. This day is an ideal opportunity where dental professionals and general public can work towards obtaining oral health education which is the ultimate gateway to better health.
Bahria University Dental College, organized a dental camp and oral health session at Allied School Haroon Bahria Campus, Hub River Road, to celebrate World Oral Health Day.
The team of BUDC was supervised by Dr. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi, Vice-principal and HOD Community and Preventive Dentistry alongside her team members, Dr. Raima Bashir and Dr. Sidra Farooqui, Dr. Imran Aslam, Dr. Bushra Waseem, Dr. Ursiya and Dr. Ayesha Ashraf.
They all were warmly greeted by the school’s Principal. Around 300 students, aged between 4- 16, were catered in 2 groups. The 1st group consisted of beginners till primary section and 2nd covered middle and senior section.
The session revolved around educating students regarding the importance of oral hygiene and its maintenance. Special emphasis was placed on significance of dietary habits and oral hygiene instructions through presentations, informative videos and demonstration on tooth models to keep the students engaged. Thorough oral examinations were performed on each student. The teaching staff also showed great interest in the dental camp and the educational session. All queries were answered by BUDC’s representatives on spot.
The school’s Principal, Mrs. Shakeel Rao expressed her gratification, with kind words of appreciation. She thanked the entire dental team for their efforts towards educating the society.
