SHCC issues final public notice to unregistered HCEs

KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) recently issued a final public notice for the registration of all healthcare establishments (HCEs). The SHCC inspection team will start inspecting these HCEs shortly. In the case of any particular findings, the SHCC may impose a fine, extending to Rs500000, on the healthcare service provider or any other person who continues practice without registering themselves with the SHCC.

The SHCC press release stated that the SHCC is giving free registration facilities to healthcare establishments (HCEs) in order to encourage them to get themselves registered.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training met with pathologists and financial experts to discuss setting up laboratory test charges. The meeting discussed the data concerning laboratory prices as well as different tiers of labs.

The team also conducted a meeting of the task force for laboratory standards, which discussed the financial and HR-related aspects concerning laboratories. In a separate meeting with stakeholders, the Directorate prepared draft policies for the Infection Prevention and Control Program in Sindh for implementation.

The Directorate also sent the status of the work in progress for provincial waste management to the Ministry of Climate. 

The Directorate of Anti-Quackery has sealed 2585 Healthcare Establishments (HCEs’) across the Sindh province while warnings have been issued to 674 HCEs for non-compliance to date.

The Directorate of Complaint has received 100 complaints so far out of which 80 complaints have been disposed of, 14 complaints are under process, while six are sub-judice.

The Directorate of Licensing and Accreditation recently received 42 new applications for registration, totaling the number of applications for registration to 9606. Certificates were recently issued to 193 HCEs bringing the total number of registration certificates issued to 8592.

The team also inspected the Amjad Hospital in Karachi.
