KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and other concerned parties in response to a petition regarding the alleged 'paper leak' of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2023.

The controversy surrounding the MDCAT retest erupted when the question paper surfaced on social media platforms. In light of this development, students, deeply concerned about the integrity of the examination, approached the Sindh High Court seeking intervention.

In their plea, the students deplored the second instance of a leaked MDCAT paper, lamenting the lack of accountability for such transgressions. The plea emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating the authorities are playing with the candidates' future.

Following the initial hearing, the SHC has directed Dow University and other respondents to submit their responses by December 14, shedding light on the measures taken to address the alleged paper leak.

Earlier, Sindh Health Minister Saad Khalid acknowledged the findings of an investigation committee, unequivocally confirming the leak of the MDCAT 2023 paper. He said, "We have decided to re-conduct the examination after seeing the report," indicating a commitment to upholding the integrity of the medical admissions process.

In response to the severity of the matter, the minister recommended entrusting the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) with overseeing the inquiry, further underscoring the government's resolve to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the issue.
