LAHORE: The Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR) recently conducted an impactful one-day hands-on workshop on Pediatric Dentistry. This specialized session, part of IADSR's 17th Professional Diploma in Advanced General Dentistry (PDAGD), provided a unique opportunity for participants to gain practical expertise under the mentorship of renowned pediatric dentistry expert, Professor Dr. Arham Nawaz Chohan from CMH Lahore.
Comprehensive training in Pediatric Dentistry
The workshop delved into key areas of pediatric dental care, combining theoretical insights and hands-on practice. Dr. Chohan shared his expertise on critical topics such as:
  - Examination and treatment planning: Emphasizing its importance and detailing the pros and cons of working with or without a structured plan.
  - Behavioral management techniques: Strategies tailored for managing pediatric patients effectively.
  - Pulp therapy in primary dentition: Covering clinical diagnosis, treatment methods, and complications management.
  - Restorative techniques: Participants practiced posterior stainless steel crowns and anterior strip crowns on typhodont models under Dr. Chohan’s guidance.
The interactive session also explored advanced topics like pulp therapy for young permanent teeth, trauma management for primary and permanent teeth, and radiographic considerations in pediatric dentistry.
The facilitator guided participants through complex scenarios, including managing iatrogenic cases and utilizing space management techniques in children. Advanced procedures like apexogenesis, apexification, MTA pulpotomy, and reattachment of fractured tooth fragments were also demonstrated, ensuring attendees left with enriched skills.
