KARACHI: Three MD residents specializing in Oral Pathology at Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD) is pleased to announce a significant triumph as—Dr. Iqra Ali, Dr. Maryam Abid, and Dr. Rabail Khero—secured the first prize in a poster competition at the "OWSD Conference on Biosafety: Navigating Biorisk Management in Pakistan."
The event, organized by Women in Science for the Developing (OWSD) Pakistan National Chapter, in collaboration with the Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA), was held at the Dr A Q Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), University of Karachi.
Under the guidance of Prof Dr Uzma Zareef, the LCMD team presented their research, clinching the top prize in the competition. The event brought together experts, researchers, policymakers and visionaries, to address the challenges of biorisk management.
The speakers including Prof Dr Erum Khan, Ms Qandeel Zehra Zameer, Ms Shahida Qureshi, and Dr Huma Baqai, addressed the conference.
The victory of the team shows the residents’ dedication to the field of Oral Pathology, besides the LCMD's commitment to excellence. Their research contributes to the global scientific community, bringing honour to the institution.
Prof Dr Navid Rashid, Principal of LCMD, congratulated Dr Uzma Zareef for her mentorship and guidance resulting in the success of Dr Iqra Ali, Dr Maryam Abid, and Dr Rabail Khero.
