Dentsply Sirona announces medical-grade 3D printing system for dental practices, labs

Dentsply's Primeprint Solution Sirona is a fully automated, end-to-end medical-grade 3D printing technology designed for dentists and dental technicians looking to increase their treatment and service options. It is a sophisticated hardware and software solution for dental applications that can handle the full printing process, including post-processing. The high level of automation aids in the reduction of handling times, delegation, and increased production. The Primeprint Solution allows users to print biocompatible applications that are repeatable and accurate. For medical products, the printing process complies with stringent regulatory criteria. Primeprint has been dubbed the "easiest method to get into 3D printing in dentistry" by beta testers.

CHARLOTTE: Primeprint Solution, the first of a new generation of Dentsply Sirona devices that will revolutionise digital dentistry, has recently been unveiled by Dentsply Sirona for dental practises and laboratories. This innovative 3D printing technique makes it simple to create patient-specific and biocompatible equipment thanks to a simplified and automated printing procedure.

The printer employs digital light processing (DLP) technology, in which UV light is used to polymerize resins. The resin is hardened layer by layer using the light projector. Primeprint, as a 3D printing solution, also automates the post-processing of printed products, which was previously laborious, messy, and time-consuming.

The Primeprint Solution will be Dentsply Sirona's first new device designed expressly to connect many sections of the dental office and dental lab across a wide range of operations in the digital universe that Dentsply Sirona is establishing with its digital technology partner Google Cloud. The partnership, which was announced at the end of February, will result in new digital dental solutions that are powered by large-scale artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms and supported by an integrated cloud solution. It will have a unified user interface and experience across all of its devices and services, making it as easy to use as a smartphone app.

"For us dentists, Primeprint Solution turns 3D printing into an efficient application for everyday use, and that’s also great for my patients," said Dr. Mike Skramstad, dentist from Orono (Minnesota, USA). "The workflow is simplified, end-to-end, so I can get the best possible results." For dental technician Christian Schuchmann (Darmstadt, Germany), the efficiency of the system is an important aspect: “I am more than enthusiastic about Primeprint, as it means 3D printing on a completely new level for our dental lab. The printer speed allows me to run multiple print jobs even during the day.”
