KARACHI: Due to the non-maintenance of the appropriate temperature and cold chain issues, more than 700 thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been wasted in Sindh.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign against SARS-CoV-2, around 760,935 doses of different vaccines have been wasted in Sindh. Failure to maintain the desired temperature for vaccines, cold chain issues, mishandling of vaccines by the vaccinators led to the loss of numbers of doses.
World Health Organization has accepted two per cent vaccine wastage. However, the number of vaccines lost due to inefficient handling in Sindh was way beyond it.
