The people of MissaKeswal witnessed a free medical and dental camp,first of its kind,early this month. The camp was organised by Dr Muhammad Humza Bin Saeed, Head of Community Dentistry Department at Islamic International Dental College (IIDC). Dr Humza led a team of 6 dental surgeons, 13 dental students and 2 dental hygienists from IIDC and 7 medical doctors and 10 medical and nursing students from Railway General Hospital and Islamic International Medical College. The medical team included specialists from the following specialities: General Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Eye. Besides male and female OPDs, a gynaecology station was set up. Furthermore, separate male and female dental surgeries were set up. Besides free medical check-up, free medicines were also provided to the general public. In the dental surgeries, tooth extractions, tooth fillings, fluoride gel applications and scaling procedures were carried out. The total turnout was of about 700 people. Over a 100 dental procedures were performed. The medical camp was sponsored by the local people of MissaKeswal. Colgate had donated 1000 oral hygiene kits which were distributed amongst the children at the camp. The event turned out to be a major success. Dr Humza also announced that his team would as well arrange a free dental camp for the local people in the coming months.-PR
