ISLAMABAD: Under the guidance of the Interim Federal Health Minister, Dr. Nadeem Jan, significant strides have been taken to secure the availability of life-saving medications.
As conveyed by the Ministry of Health spokesperson, Dr. Nadeem Jan promptly issued directives for the emergency registration of medicines to enhance their supply.
In line with the Health Minister's instructions, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has expedited the registration process, focusing on priority cases. This registration drive aims to facilitate the availability of diabetes and anti-cancer medications in the market. DRAP has granted approval for the registration of anesthesia injections and anti-cancer drugs, both for import and local manufacturing.
Furthermore, the registration board has given its nod for the registration of influenza vaccines, heparin, enoxaparin injections, and the new anti-diabetic drug Semaglutide injection.
These registrations mark a significant stride toward improving access to life-saving drugs, particularly anti-cancer and diabetes medications. The government is committed to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of these critical medicines and is taking proactive measures in this regard.
Dr. Nadeem Jan also mentioned that the government is in the process of establishing a pharmaceutical park to bolster local medicine production and promotion. Additionally, concrete steps are being taken to expand the capacity of thNe pharmaceutical industry.
