KARACHI- A oral health awareness program was organized by Community Dentistry Department, Baqai Dental College at Baqai Medical complex (BMC) ,Kuda Ki Bastirecently,for the teachers of Salmiullah Fahmi School under the supervision of Dr Asghar Ali Shigri ,( Dept. Head Comm-unity dentistry ,BDC). All the teachers &staff members from the school had attended this program. The purpose of this type of an activity was to improve basic knowledge of oral hygiene to the school teachers so that they can further guide their students. This activity was a part of continuing dental education programs of Community Dentistry Department, Baqai Dental College, regarding oral health for teachers & students of the school. It was an informative & interactive discussion in which the facilitator ( Dr Asif Rasool ) emphasized the teachers to discouraged their students not to eat suparis , gutka& other sweet chalias. Furthermore, educate their parents to control their children from taking bad things as it could be harmful for them. DrAsifRasool also gave some tips to the teachers to check the students randomly at least twice a week whether they are properly brushing their teeth or not. They should also involve the school students in dental educational activities like poster & drawing competitions on class & school level to highlight the importance of oral hygiene. The event was very successful and highly appreciated by the Administrator khudakibasti {BMC}Mr Salman Nazarand all the participants who have attended the event .At the end Mr Salman said that from such type of activity, teachers would be well informed with the importance of oral hygiene & then they can better educate their students as well as their parents. So in this way , we can overall improve the status of oral hygiene in the area of " kudakiBasti " He also thanked the cooperation of Dr Shigri, Head of Community Dentistry Dept.for organizing such an informative Program.---PR
