ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the Medical Dental Admission Examination (MDCAT) will be held on August 27. This decision was made during a PMDC meeting held recently, presided over by the PMDC President. The council discussed various issues, with a particular focus on the MDCAT, and decided to proceed with the examination on the mentioned date.

The syllabus for the MDCAT will remain the same as the previous year's exam. All provincial secretaries have been directed to commence preparations for the upcoming examination in order to ensure the smooth conduct of the test. The decision was made with the best interests of the students in mind.

Last year, approximately 204,259 students took part in the MDCAT. It is estimated that around 201,000 students will participate in this year's exams. To enhance transparency and promote merit-based admissions, public sector medical universities from all four provinces will re-conduct the exams according to their respective provincial syllabi.

The council emphasized the importance of involving all stakeholders in the examination process. Examination departments of public medical universities will also consider the MDCAT Paper Difficulty Index to ensure convenience for students while maintaining the integrity of the examination. The aim is to conduct the exams smoothly across all provinces, minimizing any inconvenience to the students.

The meeting was attended by several notable individuals, including Prof. Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zubair Khan, Jawad Amin Khan, Barrister Chaudhry Sultan Mansoor, Noor ul Haq, Dr. Mahmood Aurangzeb, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Asad, Lt. Gen. Mohsin Qureshi (Surgeon General), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Health.
