KARACHI: Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) recently celebrated Pakistan's 76th Independence Day in a remarkable event that brought together students and faculty members from both the BDS and MBBS programmes to commemorate the nation's freedom.
The festivities commenced with recitation of the Holy Quran by Anas, a third-year BDS student, followed by national anthem and a flag-raising ceremony, symbolising unity among all participants.
Dr Irfan Ashraf, the head of the Department of Student Affairs, gave a presentation on Pakistan's rich history, instilling a profound sense of pride among the audience.
Dr Abdul Malik, in his speech highlighted our responsibilities as conscientious citizens, particularly in these challenging times. Students from both MBBS and BDS programmes expressed their love for the country through heartfelt renditions of national songs, sparking enthusiasm among attendees.
Dr Saad Usmani, Chairman of the Co-Curriculum Committee, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants. Later a cake-cutting ceremony was held led by LCMD Chairman Mr Amir Waliuddin Chisti, and Vice Chairman Dr Syed Ali Farhan Razi.
The event served as a reminder to the sacrifices made for our freedom and the significance of national identity.
