KARACHI: Contractually employed doctors working on different projects of the Sindh Health Department recently staged a protest demonstration demanding the regularization on their posts at the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
The doctors working in the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Accident Emergency & Trauma Centre, Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health Project, Nutrition Support Program Sindh (NSP), Accelerated Action Program, and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP), since 2014 have not been regularized on their posts.
The protesting doctors were carrying placards and banners inscribed with different slogans like justice for doctors, regularize the contract doctors, the release of salaries, and others. The protesters said their salaries had been stopped and they were protesting for regularization of their posts since long.
The protestors said that a summary of around 120 contract doctors had been moved to the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department of Sindh in April 2019 for their regularization. However, no progress has been made in this regard yet.
The doctors demanded the government to approve the summary for the regularization of contractually employed doctors on an urgent basis; otherwise; they will observe a hunger strike at the Karachi Press Club after Eid ul Azha.
