KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has increased the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) fee, creating financial issues for students seeking admission to MBBS and BDS programs.

This year, the MDCAT fee has been raised by 33pc, with students now required to pay Rs 8,000 per head, up from Rs 5,000 last year.

MDCAT is a standardized test and an essential part of the admission process for undergraduate medical and dental studies in Pakistan. Reports indicate that over 200,000 candidates are expected to appear for MDCAT 2024.

The MDCAT registration has begun, and students can register through the official online platform for the test to be held on Sept 22 in Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
