NEW YORK: Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine has announced that veterinary dentistry experts at the institution have launched its first-ever, online program called the Veterinary Dentistry Diagnostics Program.
“We’re proud of this groundbreaking new collection of resources,” said Mr Jodi Korich, DVM, associate dean for education, in a statement made by the university. “Veterinary colleges can use these resources to augment their existing dentistry curricula, while practices can use them to support employee training to expand services in a rapidly growing field.”
Hosted through the university's online platform, eCornell, this three course program comprehensively covers the following aspects: Conscious Oral Exam of the Dog and Cat, Intraoral Radiology in the Dog, and Oral Examination and Periodontal Charting in the Anesthetized Dog and Cat.
The course shall be taught by Nadine Fiani, BVSc, associate clinical professor and section chief of dentistry and oral surgery, and Santiago Peralta, DVM, DAVDC, associate professor in dentistry and oral surgery, both at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals.
This online course is self-paced, allowing students to complete it either while studying the fundamental course curriculum during their degree program, to complete it during a set time frame, or by taking it during any other time, to complete at their own pace.
The course comprises of videos, medical illustrations and lecturers, that are easy to follow, comprehend and learn.
