ISLAMABAD: HBS Dental College Islamabad Dean and Vice President of Section XV of the International College of Dentists (ICD) Prof Dr Arshad Mahmood Malik has been awarded the title of "Master Fellow" by the IDC, making him the second dentist and the first oral and maxillofacial surgeon from Pakistan to receive this honour since the college’s inception in 1920.
The prestigious title was conferred upon him by the president and secretary general of ICD.
With a career spanning over four decades, Prof Malik graduated in 1979 from de' Montmorency College of Dentistry and subsequently completed his MDS from PGMI Lahore. He has held prominent positions, including Principal of Dental Section and Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Punjab Medical College Faisalabad and SAHARA Medical College Narowal. Contributing over 26 years of teaching experience, Prof Malik has served as a distinguished examiner for post-graduate studies in oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral medicine, and oral pathology at prestigious institutions such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, University of Health Sciences Lahore, Punjab University, among others.
He is a Fellow and Regent of ICD Region 24, covering Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has also been chief editor at the IDC for Section XV. Recognized for his dedication to his profession and community, Prof Malik has been elected as President Emeritus of the Central Council of the Pakistan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, President of the Pakistan Dental Association Chakwal (2018), and President of the Pakistan Medical Association Chakwal. He is also a Fellow of the Pakistan Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the Pakistan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Currently, Prof Dr Arshad Malik holds the esteemed position of Dean/Principal at HBS Dental College Islamabad.
