Dr Asif Arain, Chairman of the 12th International and 32ndNational Dental Congress on Multi-disciplinary Approach in Dentistry, said that the congress is being hosted by PDA Sindh and Karachi. Dr Arain who also enjoys the status of Vice President of APDF/ APRO and the Director of International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE), was recently interviewed by Dental News with a view to knowing more about the upcoming congress. Talking to the exclusive media partner - Dental News - the congress chairman informed that this will be the biggest dental show ever held in Pakistan. The congress is being organized in collaboration with DTMA. All arrangements are in place to hold this mega event by Pakistan Dental Association. He invited all the dental practitioners to get registered for the event to make this show even bigger. Dr Arain also stated that the registration amount has been kept low and affordable so as to encourage more and more dentists to get registered and take advantage of the extensive scientific programme planned for the event. The registration is only Rs 2000 for the general practitioner and Rs 1500 for the students and allied professionals till January 10th. In response to a question about his team, Dr Arain said that: ‘I am very lucky to have a very dedicated and professional team of which patron-in-chief is Dr Inayatullah Padhiar. I am fully supported by the Congress Secretary Dr Ali Farhan along with PDA presidents as the patrons, co-chairmen - Dr Anwar Saeed, Dr Abdul Ghani Pathan and Dr Syed Shah Faisal. Various committees are headed by experienced and seasoned dentists including Dr Kashif Ikram (Scientific), Dr Feroz Jehangir (Trade), Dr Ahmed Bari (Finance), Dr Nasir Ali Khan (Registration), Dr Imran Ahsan (Travel & Accommodation), Dr Aizaz Khan (Cultural), Dr Abid Mehmood (Publication), Dr Irshad Ahmed (Security), Dr Musaddiq Ashraf Arain (Audio-Visual), Dr Faizan Anchor Yaseen (Student Affairs) and Dr Uzma Zareef (Spouse Committee). Talking about the scientific programme, Dr Arain said that: “There will be an elaborate scientific programme with pre- and post-congress workshops so as to provide maximum knowledge to the participants. The highlight of the congress will be its state-of-the-art lectures to be delivered by world renowned speakers, coming from around the globe. Local speakers of international stature will also deliver their lectures and conduct workshops.” A convocation for International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE) is also on the card and the congress is also being supported by Asia Pacific Federation (APDF) Talking of the trade side, he said: “The Congress is fully backed by the largest dental trade exhibition ever held in Pakistan, introducing innovative products and offering handsome discounts by Dental Trade & Manufacturers Association to the registered participants.” Being a general practitioner himself, Dr Arain urged the dental practitioners to come forward, one and all, and get registered for this mega event and together make it a memorable occasion for the entire dental fraternity.
