KARACHI: Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC) recently observed World No Tobacco Day with The Hunar Foundation. 

 As part of their outreach program, Fatima Jinnah Dental College & Hospital Trust conducted an awareness session and free oral health screening camp for students of The Hunar Foundation. Information regarding different types of tobacco, perils of its use, treatment options etc., were presented during the awareness session. Fun activities, quizzes and lucky draws were also incorporated during the discourse. 

 Dr Hussain Askary lauded the efforts of all departments, students and house officers for organizing such an event and for their active participation in raising awareness against tobacco.

In Pakistan, 110,000 people die yearly due to tobacco usage. Death due to tobacco is preventable. Therefore, WHO commemorates World No Tobacco Day every year on the 31st of May. Every year they advocate a particular theme. This year the theme is “Stop Illicit Trade of Tobacco Products”.
