Karachi: The Mehran Institute of Continuing Dental Education (MICDE) after success of last year Diploma recently organized a ceremony to launch a 1 year Diploma in General Dentistry which will start from the month of march. The institution inspires the beliefthat “Fulfilling therequirement of PMDC forCME” should not be theonly motive for attendingsuch workshops, the spiritbehind this continuingeducation is to update andupgrade ones knowledgeand skill-developmentshould be our priority".MICDE has taken aninitiative to provide qualityeducation under thesupervision of experienced consultants’ andcomfortable environmentas well as provision ofnecessary CME hours,accredited by PMDC,through collaboration withDOW University. The aim of the course is to provide best of clinical knowledge in form of lectures and hands-on workshop to produce clinicians who are up to date with the latest trends in dentistry and can run their practice independently. The ceremony was attended by 50 people including some renowned dentists; Dr Arshad Hassan who discussed about the importance of periodontology and its need of implication in general dentist's practice,Dr Ruaaz Aziz; explained the necessityof knowing orthodontics enough to prevent common malocclusions and importance of referring a case rather than playing with the patient's aesthetics, Dr Ahmed Omar; highlighted the need of continuing education to run a better practice, Dr Abrar Ali mentioned the importance of new techniques being introduced to save time and cut down cost. Dr Fazal ur Rehman Qazi, Dr Sameer Qureshi and Dr Azfar Aheed were also present at the ceremony to motivate the Team MICDE.-PR
