Sindh to hold MDCAT in major cities in six weeks

KARACHI: The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) will be held across Sindh, including major cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana, starting from the 2017-18 academic year, within six weeks.

The Sindh government announced the decision after a detailed briefing to the cabinet, which addressed concerns over a recent MDCAT paper leak, now under review by the Sindh High Court.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stressed the need for transparency, saying, “The leaking of the paper is not just a matter of shame but jeopardises our students’ futures. We must ensure transparency to uphold the integrity of our educational processes.”

Due to these concerns, IBA Karachi has opted not to oversee the examination. Consequently, the Sindh Cabinet approved IBA Sukkur to take over the administration of the MDCAT.

The government has allocated Rs232.1 million for the 2017-18 exam, set to be held within the next six weeks, to ensure a fair and transparent process for all candidates.
