KARACHI: The Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, Bahria University Medical And Dental College (BUMDC), arranged a one-day seminar to mark World Oral Health Day 2022.
The World Oral Health Day seminar was organised in the auditorium in the presence of Vice Admiral (R) Khalid Amin HI (M), Director General BUMDC, Karachi, Prof. Dr Wahab Buksh Kadri, Principal Dental College, BUMDC, Prof. Dr Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi, Vice Principal Dental College, BUMDC. The guest of honour was Prof. Dr Muhammad Khalil from Jinnah Sindh Medical University. The guest speakers were Prof. Dr Ambrina Qureshi from Dow University of Health Sciences and Dr Sidra Mohiuddin from Ziauddin College of Dentistry. The event was attended by the dental, medical, nursing, DPT faculty, and students.
The journey of the Community Support Program since the inception of Bahria University's Dental College was shown to the spectators in an intricate video. Prof. Dr Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi shared a brief history of World Oral Health Day and enlightened the audience about oral health millennium goals globally and how are they applied in society.
Dr Sidra Mohiuddin discussed the current situation of oral cancer in Pakistan and the role of educating women for improving the oral health of the upcoming generations. Dr Ambrina Qureshi shared her knowledge and valuable experience on the strategies that can be undertaken by the Pakistani dental community to improve the oral health of the country's underprivileged community, particularly in rural areas which have the least access to health facilities.
Prof. Dr Muhammad Khalil appreciated the dental college's efforts to bring everyone to a single forum. He encouraged the members of the dental and medical community to work together to improve the oral health dilemma of Pakistan and introduce policies that could bring positive change.
Vice Admiral (R) Khalid Amin HI (M) and Dr Wahab Buksh Kadri presented shields to the guest speakers and appreciation certificates to the organisers.
In the end, Vice Admiral shared his views and appreciated the immense efforts of the department in organising the event. Dr Mohsin Haider, Senior Lecturer, Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, BUMDC, ended the seminar with a vote of thanks.
