KARACHI: A high level meeting was held at Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Sindh chaired by Minister of Health and Population Welfare Sindh and co-chaired by WHO Representative Pakistan on follow up of HIV Outbreak in Larkana.
The discussion was around the recommendations of HIV mission 2019 and the actions taken from 2019-2023.
The Minister of Health gave directives to the District Administration, District Health Department, CDC-HIV, Sindh Health Care Commission, Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority and PPHI to work in Quackery, Infection Prevention and Control, Safe Blood Transfusion practices, screening and treatment, community awareness etc
The meeting was attended by MPA and Health Advisor to CM, Secretary Health Sindh, Director General Health Services Sindh, Commissioner Larkana, Deputy Commissioners Larkana Division, District Health Officers Larkana Division, CEO Sindh Health Care Commission, Secretary Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority, COO PPHI, Deputy and Additional Director CDC (HIV/ Hepatitis) and UN Agencies (WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS).
WHO Representative donated Integrated Mobile Medical Van and Testing kits to the Minister of Health Sindh and extended WHO's commitment to support DoH Sindh to implement robust system to end HIV outbreak in Larkana
The handing over ceremony was followed by Stakeholders Meeting chaired by WHO and DoH Sindh and attended by District Health team of Larkana Division, MS of tertiary and secondary care hospitals of Larkana division, key stakeholders, partners and UN Agencies where data was presented and action plan was discussed in detail.
