KARACHI: The Sindh government has recently decided to close all cattle markets in the province due to an outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) caused by a vector-borne virus.
The Sindh government's livestock and animal husbandry department has announced the closure of cattle markets, as well as a warning against eating affected animals' meat and milk.
To prevent cows from contracting LSD, the livestock agency encouraged cattle owners to separate sick animals from healthy ones and use an anti-mosquito spray regularly. According to the department, lumpy skin disease (LSD) spread via saliva and insects.
According to experts, because the sickness is new to the region, there is no known vaccine to combat it. The disease-infected animals have been relocated to cattle ranches near the motorway and Bhens colony.
Because of the disease's rapid spread and the lack of vaccination, Sindh's livestock department has temporarily closed all cattle markets.
