The Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s (JSMU) APPNA Institute of Public Health organized its first multidisciplinary conference on the issues of public health in Sindh, in connection with World Health Day; the theme of the conference was ‘Universal Health Coverage: Everyone Everywhere’ in which a total of 75 papers were presented covering areas like universal health coverage, maternal and child health, role of universities and civil society organizations in strengthening health system, communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental and occupational health and medical education & oral health .
The parallel session of oral health was held at SIOHS, in which different speakers from various dental institutions of Karachi participated in both oral and poster presentation competitions. The chairpersons of the session were Dr Anwer Saeed, Prof. Kefi Iqbal and Dr Imran sheikh. Moderator of the session was Dr Marium Azfar. A total of 11 papers were presented from various dental institutions on different issues of dental health. In the plenary session of the conference distinguished professor of physics Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy, economist Dr Kaiser Bengali, and parliamentarian Dr Nafisa Shah shared their expert opinions in the conference to help create links between different sectors to improve public health.
