Learning Made Fun and Easy
Karachi: FJDC'S Annual Oral Pathology Trivia took place on 27th October 2022. It was a Grand Finale of a month-long activity, the concept of which focuses on enjoying while learning and growing along the way. The main organizers of this event were Assistant Professor Dr Mehwish Ayaz and Assistant Professor Dr Gulrukh Askary (Director Academics & Head of Oral Pathology Department-FJDC).
The activity was being planned since over a month. Third-year B.D.S students were offered to participate in three different activities; a Quiz competition, a Poster competition, and an Educational Tambola. The response was overwhelming. A total of 56 students participated in the quiz competition, out of which 20 were shortlisted during qualifying rounds prior to the main event. Twenty-one students took part in the poster competition and presented six posters in form of groups, facilitated by the Demonstrators as their supervisors. Third-year B.D.S students participated in the Educational Tambola along with faculty members of different departments.
The proceedings of the main fun-filled day started with the quiz competition conducted through KAHOOT! (A game-based learning platform). By the end of three rounds, winners were announced. The well-versed jury made sure that all participants were prepared for their topics. The jury scored each group individually and later, all the scores were compiled to decide the winners of the competition. For Tambola, a half house and a full house were played. The first ones to make a Bingo call were announced winners.
The excited winners of all three activities were given prizes and all the participants were awarded with certificates.
Such events provide a platform to express one’s artistic skills and through such events, hidden talents and potentials are discovered. Students get the opportunity to test their communication skills, presentation skills and knowledge regarding the subject through an entertaining educational activity.
This event was intentionally planned toward the end of the academic year in order to motivate students to learn in a fun way. FJDC supports such educational activities as they create a healthy Student-Teacher relationship and are determined to continue this practice every year.
