KARACHI: The Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) recently hosted two-day "Interdental College Cricket Tournament" 2023, paying homage to the late Prof Dr Talha M Siddiqui, the former principal of Baqai Dental College, at the NED & IBA (UoK) Ground.

The tournament that was participated in by 15 leading dental colleges’ teams was organized by Prof Dr Navid Rashid Qureshi, Principal of College of Dentistry-LCMD, Dr Saad Usmani, Chairperson of the Co-Curricular Committee, and Dr Sadaf Asrar, Secretary of the Co-Curricular Committee. Mr Hamza Chisti was the chief guest of the tournament, which was managed by sports consultant Mr. Murad and his dedicated team.

The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) emerged triumphant in a nail-biting final, securing the championship by a slim three-run margin. Notable individual performances were also recognized, with Dr Khurram Pervaiz from DIKIOHS earning the best fielder title, Faisal Afridi from PDA named the man of the match and man of the series, Arman from DIKIOHS awarded best bowler, and Mr Adnan from PDA distinguished as the best batsman.

A grand prize distribution ceremony, held at the IBA Ground, marked the culmination of the tournament, where winners and runners-up received trophies, medals, shields, and certificates. Participants demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship were honored with certificates of participation, medals, and shields.

The success of the event was attributed to the LCMD administration, the Co-Curricular Committee COD, and the committed organizers, who worked tirelessly to ensure a memorable and successful sporting event.

The tournament not only fostered a spirit of unity and excellence among participants but also paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Prof Dr Talha M Siddiqui.
