KARACHI: Continuing Dental Education (CDE) department, Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD), recently organized a workshop on "Biological and Clinical Concepts of Crown Lengthening".
The workshop was supervised by Prof. Dr. Uzma Zareef, featuring both theoretical and hands-on training led by an experienced team from LCMD’s Periodontology Department.
The workshop was structured into two key segments. The first segment was a lecture delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abid (MDS), Head of the Periodontology Department. Dr. Abid's presentation covered essential topics such as case selection and techniques for crown lengthening procedures in both anterior and posterior regions.
In the second segment, participants engaged in practical, hands-on surgical experience using goat heads. This session was led by Dr. Muhammad Abid and Prof. Dr. Uzma Zareef, with support from Dr. Ishma Binte Saeed (BDS, MS Perio Trainee), Dr. Nida (BDS, MS Perio Trainee), and Dr. Arifa Haque (BDS, MCPS), offering comprehensive and interactive learning opportunity.
The workshop, hosted by Dr. Afshan Qamar, attracted a diverse audience including house officers, faculty members, postgraduate students, and alumni of LCMD. Participants were able to develop practical skills in crown lengthening techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates by the Chairperson of the CDEC Committee.
