KARACHI: Fatima Jinnah Dental Hospital celebrated World Oral Health Day in March by conducting a free dental screening camp organised by Dental News in partnership with Shield Corporation Limited.
FJDC house officers, which include Dr Zehra, Dr Umair and Dr Muneeba, conducted the screening camp. Eighty-four attendees of the screening camp were educated about oral health hygiene. People were encouraged to adopt a good oral hygiene routine so that risk factors could be managed. They were taught about correct brushing techniques, the importance of flossing and using mouth wash daily, and the significance of visiting a dentist for frequent checkups.
The visitors were also advised about brushing their teeth twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush, preferably with fluoride toothpaste. They were also guided to replace their toothbrush every 3 to 4 months or sooner if needed. Moreover, the detrimental effects of smoking were also discussed.
Moreover, Dr Adnan Zaidi, Dr Nisha Asif and Dr Rahil Mughal also gave the counselling session and informed about relevant, comprehensive treatment plans.
Free toothpaste and toothbrushes were also distributed to the participants towards the end.
