One of the other milestones achieved in this summer by the Pakistan society of oral & maxillofacial pathology was that the all the oral pathologists of Pakistan were brought together under the Umbrella of this newly emerging society PSOMP.
This event took place in Islamabad Medical & Dental College, Islamabad. The meeting was based on a scientific session followed by a detail discussion of the society byelaws and future prospective. PSOMP federal council was the main Host of the event but it was the collective effort of IMDC, PSOMP federal council and PSOMP central council.
The meetings began with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Dr Majid Jehangir. The scientific session was done by Dr Arshad Malik President Central Council PSOMP discussing the oral manifestations of HCV infection followed by Question and answer session. The scientific session was followed by a general session which started with a welcoming speech and brief discussion on the past history of PSOMP by the President federal council Dr Joharia Azhar. After that the main aim of the meeting including byelaws and future prospects of the society was discussed in detail by Dr Nauman Rauf Khan Executive Director of the Central Council. The last portion of the general session was the Oath taking ceremony of KPK and Baluchistan councils followed by a tea break.
Last part of the event was the detail input by the President or the respective representative of all the councils of PSOMP and suggestions followed by the wrap-up by the President Central Council. Many points were decided and included within the legislature of the society there and then and the rest were to be decided later on through email and coordination with the executive director Dr Nauman Khan. Dr Sultan Zeb was made the editorial chief of the Journal of PSOMP which is still under process. The successful meeting was concluded by the Principal Dental College IMDC Dr.Khurshid Ahmad Nasim who is also Member Executive Council PM&DC said that it was the honour for IMDC for facilitating this event and is a positive step in the building up of this field in Pakistan. The society has a long way to go and many hurdles to bear but with this energy the Society will make its mark soon.
