KARACHI: The Department of Oral Biology at Ziauddin College of Dentistry (ZCD) organised its first-ever Oral Biology Presentation Competition at the Ziauddin University.
The event, held under the guidance of Dr Fizza Saher, Head of the Oral Biology Department, witnessed the exceptional talent of BDS first-year students.
A team of mentors, including Dr Hira Batool, Dr Khushbu Lohana, and Dr Naseer Khan from the department, contributed to the event's success by guiding the participating students.
The competition, judged by Dr Bilal Bashir, Assistant Professor and HOD Oral Biology from Fatima Jinnah Dental College, and Dr Saad Sheikh, Assistant Professor from Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences, JSMU, featured presentations highlighting the basic morphological and identifying features of different types of primary and permanent teeth.
The judges appreciated the artistry of the presentations and the impactful delivery by the students.
The event provided a platform for learning and collaboration, underscoring Ziauddin College of Dentistry's dedication to academic excellence. It also offered participants the opportunity to refine their research, presentation, and critical thinking skills crucial for their academic and professional careers. Interactions with peers and faculty during the competition potentially paved the way for future collaborations and mentorship opportunities.
ZCD Principal Prof Dr Wahab Buksh Kadri in his address on the occasion stressed the importance of scholarly pursuits and lauded the efforts by the participants.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of prizes to the top three position-holders, along with certificates and shields presented to the judges and mentors.
