MULTAN: The Nishtar Institute of Dentistry (NID) in Multan recently conducted its fourth oral health awareness session at Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital (BVH) under the campaign titled ‘Beat ECC with Dr. Sajal Khan’ to promote oral hygiene among children and adults alike.
The event was led by Dr. Sajal Khan and supported by focal person Dr. Rizwan Asghar.
Patronized by Nishtar Medical College (NMC) Principal Prof. Dr. Amjad Bari, the campaign included an extensive awareness session conducted in the BVH’s Pediatric and Gynecology wards.
The session, attended by doctors, paramedics, patients, and parents, focused different aspects of oral healthcare, such as proper teeth and tongue cleaning techniques, and the importance of selecting the right toothbrush.
Dr. Sajal Khan, a gold medalist, highlighted the importance of preventive oral care in avoiding dental issues and associated treatment costs. Free toothpaste and mouthwash were distributed among the participants to further encourage and support their oral hygiene practices.
During the visit, the NID team, comprising Dr. Rayyan Ali, Dr. Abdullah Niaz, Dr. Hasnain Atta, Dr. Maheen Zehra, and Dr. Sajal Khan, examined children in Pediatric ward. They recorded clinical findings to contribute to evidence-based research and provided advice to parents on maintaining their children's oral health.
The initiative also included an interactive session where physicians filled out questionnaires, enhancing the overall understanding of oral health challenges and needs within the community.
Senior dental surgeon Dr. Muhammad Imran, from the NID Community Department, said this campaign not only highlights NID’s commitment to community service but also reinforces its role in promoting comprehensive healthcare practices.
He said the success of the initiative at BVH demonstrates NID’s continued commitment to ensuring access to high-quality dental care.
