KARACHI - Provincial Program Manager, Hepatitis Prevention and Control Program (HPCP) Sindh -Dr Kazim Raza Memon revealed recently, that the contract employees of program would be regularized soon.
Dr Kazim Memon said; over 400 employees, including; doctors, paramedical staff, nurses and clerical staff have been working on contract basis since 2009 and they would be regularized soon.
He said scrutiny of contract employees is in process and after the completion of this procedure, the staff would be confirmed on their posts. He said contract staff of Hepatitis Program would hear good news within two months.
Replying to a question, regarding the shortage of medicines in hepatitis centers, Dr Kazim said; Supply of medicines has been resumed in 55 hepatitis centers operating across the Sindh province. He said there was no shortage of drugs in the centers. He informed that only Pegasys injections were not available in the centers due to some legal issues.
It is pertinent to mention here that, dozens of contract employees of HPCP (chief minister’s initiative) had completely shut down the hepatitis centers and clinics to protest across the province for six days, on December 2014. They were protesting against non-confirmation of their jobs despite the passage of several years.
